1. Introduction to the Piano

• Explore the keyboard layout: white and black keys
• Understand posture and hand positioning for comfortable playing
• Learn how to produce sound with proper finger placement
   

2. Learning to Play with the Right Hand

• Begin with one-hand melodies using the right hand
• Play familiar rhymes such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb"
• Focus on treble clef note reading and rhythm
   

3. Adding Basic Chords

• Introduction to simple chords using the right hand
• Play and sing along with rhymes using basic chord accompaniments
• Understand harmony and its role in music
   

4. Introducing the Left Hand

• Learn to read and play bass clef notes with the left hand
• Gradually combine both hands to play simple pieces
• Build coordination and confidence
   

5. Exploring Both Hands Together

• Practice small lessons from beginner piano books
• Play easy pieces with both hands to improve coordination
• Develop familiarity with treble and bass clefs
   

6. Scales, Hanon Exercises, and Technical Exercises

• Practice five-finger scales in C Major (hands separately and together)
• Introduce Hanon exercises to develop finger strength and agility
• Practice dynamics: playing softly (piano) and loudly (forte)
• Develop finger strength and agility through targeted exercises

 

7. Sight-Reading and Aural Skills

• Practice sight-reading to play simple pieces fluently
• Develop aural skills by recognizing pitch and rhythmic patterns
• Engage in clapping and singing exercises to improve musical memory
   

8. Performance and Expression

• Practice performing pieces with expression and dynamics
• Build stage confidence through mock performances
• Learn tips to perform confidently and handle exam day effectively
